Project Description:

The Summer Work and Travel (SWT) project is one of the cultural exchange projects launched by the U.S. Department of State to promote mutual understanding between the U.S. and peoples all around the world. College students will have the opportunity to apply for a J-1 visa through the project during the summer vacation to enter the United States to participate in a paid temporary job, and to self-guide travel during the work to experience the real United States. The project has been successfully practiced in many countries and regions in the world for nearly 50 years. In recent years, more than 100,000 international college students have participated in the project and achieved good exchange results. The project has entered China’s mainland and has been rapidly developed in recent years.

Project features: equality, safety, legality:

The Summer Work and Travel (SWT) project is an official education exchange program that is initiated by the US State Department, the Fulbright-Hays Act, and is authorized by the authorized agencies. Students entering the United States on a J-1 visa can apply for a U.S. social security card, receive equal pay for equal work with their U.S. colleagues, and have complete medical and accidental injury insurance during the U.S. period.

Project Benefits:

2. The entire English environment communicates with colleagues in the United States to practice oral English and enhance English ability.

3. Improve students’ independence ability and other comprehensive capabilities through independent living and working in the United States.

Work introduction:

The project is scheduled for the summer period and lasts for 2-3 months. Working 30-40 hours a week, the hourly wage is about 7.5-12 dollars, and the salary is paid once a week. Overtime pay 1.5 times.

The work will be spread throughout the United States (California, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia) and some will be located in remote resorts, not downtown. Locations include amusement parks, water parks, theme parks, fast food restaurants, supermarkets and hotels.

Application Conditions:

1. According to the requirements of the U.S. Activities Act, all full-time university students, graduate students, and doctoral students who are over 18 years of age are eligible.

2. Excellent academic performance and good character in school. Through the review and recommendation by the school, the relevant departments attach great importance to the opinions of the school.

3. Have good English communication skills, must pass the interview of the U.S. employer.

4. Applicants should have independent and autonomous capabilities, be able to adapt to the new environment, work actively and diligently, be responsible and accountable.

5. All university students in mainland China can apply.
